Ngee Ann Polytechnic is one of Singapore's leading
institutions of higher learning. Its six academic
schools and early childhood education programme offer
a total of 28 full-time Diploma courses. It offers
a full-time three-year course leading to a Diploma
in Early Childhood Education (ECH) in collaboration
with RTRC Asia since 1999.
The Diploma in Early Childhood Education
(ECH) is a programme jointly developed with the Regional
Training and Resource Centre in Early Childhood Care
and Education for Asia (RTRC Asia). This course provides
training to meet the rising need for early childcare
professionals in Singapore. Ngee Ann is the only polytechnic
in Singapore to offer this diploma course that also
covers both Teaching and Leadership diplomas. It aims
to provide a solid foundation for early childhood
educators, covering the following subject strands
: child development, curriculum design, teaching practice,
managing and administering early childhood programmes
and settings. It also prepares and equips students
with necessary knowledge, management and leadership
skills to run and manage an early childhood setting/
programme.
The Diploma in Early Childhood Education provides
avenues for advancement to a professional career in
Early Childhood Education. Graduates of the programme
can apply for admission into degree courses in Early
Childhood Education in overseas universities with
possible transference of credit.
The Polytechnic offers students

Learning Model (NLM), which emphasises balanced and
broad-based education. To ensure that its courses
and students are in tune with current market developments,
the Polytechnic maintains close industry links and
devotes expertise and resources to assist the development
of local enterprises.
